Ethnic and indegenous groups with spatial transient characteristic that live in modern countries can find themselves in a unique situation of an impounded space where on one hand they aspire to improve their condition and to integrate into the wide society, and on the other hand, they are debarred from this process due to various reasons. This situation compels them to live in substandard conditions that perpetuate the gaps between them and other groups in the country, and often constitutes a risk to their wellbeing and health. This research intends to explore the components that create impounded space that locks this ethnic minority in its place, to analyze and define the idea of impounded space, how this group generates sustainable place under these conditions, and thus suggest some insights for these minorities elsewhere. The research will be based on the case of the Bedouin unrecognized village of Wadi al-Naam, adjuscent to Ramat Hovav heavily pollutant industrial complex in the Negev. Abstract Presentations
